Friends of Hamlin Beach State Park members benefit the park in dozens of ways, from outdoor projects to special events to craft endeavors to fund raising. This array of opportunities allows us to pair members with activities in which they have the greatest interest and aptitude.
Here’s just a sample of things our volunteers do on an annual basis:
- Monitor our bluebird and purple martin populations
- Maintain the gardens and trails
- Develop craft kits for campers and visitors
- Assist at park events such as “I Love My Park Day”, held every May
- Volunteer at the CCC/POW site
- Develop and support educational activities
- Volunteer at pop-up events, sharing our work and greeting visitors
- Fundraising and grant writing
- Enjoy the camaraderie and fellowship from working together on a common interest
Looking ahead, we will endeavor to be more inclusive, to increase the park’s accessibility, to search for more funding opportunities, further develop our technology, and expand our collaboration with other organizations in our community.
We will continue to work with our environmental educators and look forward to supporting a wide variety of activities for a diverse audience—and, of course, allowing us to continue as lifelong learners.
And just around the corner….perhaps a new visitor’s center!
